Badminton Tournament Between Dalian Korean International School and Maple Leaf School

On April 10th, the gymnasium of Dalian Korean International School was filled with excitement as it hosted a badminton competition between its own 10th graders and the 7th and 8th graders from Maple Leaf School, which has a diverse student body. The competition started at 9:30 AM and after a lunch break at noon, moved into the finals.

In total, 32 students participated, 16 from each school. They were divided into 8 groups of 4 players, with only the top player from each group advancing to the knockout stages, leading to the quarterfinals.

The final victor was Yoon seowoo from Dalian Korean School, followed by Jason from Maple Leaf School securing the second place, and Joo Hyun-woo from Dalian Korean School taking third place. I also participated in the competition, facing defeat against Jason in the semifinals.

The competition was distinctive as it did not consider age or gender in the matchups, leading to noticeable differences in the skill levels of the participants. However, this did not hinder the spirit of encouragement and respect shared among players from both schools. During the mid-day lunch, students from both schools mingled, sharing meals and conversations at the same table.

An awards ceremony marked the end of the competition, where medals were awarded to the top three in each group, and trophies were presented to the finalists. The event not only showed sporting prowess but also promoted mutual respect and friendship among the students.
